Rita S. Gallin Award for the Best Graduate Student Paper in Women and International Development
The Center for Gender in Global Context conducts this annual graduate student paper competition, named for of Rita S. Gallin, Professor of Sociology at Michigan State University, in honor of her 13 years as director of the Women and International Development Program and her scholarship in the area of women, gender, international development, and globalization.
For each year's competition, the paper should have been written within the past year, should be approximately 20 double-spaced pages in length, and should focus on issues related to women, gender, international development, and globalization. A Call for Papers announcement is posted each fall with a specific deadline.
The papers will be reviewed by a faculty committee, and the award will be made at GenCen's Annual Open House in January. The winning paper will be peer reviewed for publication in the WID Working Paper Series and its author will receive $200.00.
Papers should be submitted via e-mail attachment (in Word or WordPerfect format) or by mail (in hard copy and on diskette/CD/DVD) to the GenCen office. Please indicate you are submitting the paper for the competition and be sure to include a contact phone number and e-mail address.
